Emerging from within Zain, 4WARD-Progress with Purpose was built bottom-up through active and iterative engagement with numerous Zain personnel, from senior executive management to a wide representation of functions and areas of expertise across the business. The strategy was also complemented by integrating external views with subject matter experts, market research, and investor expectations. The strategic process that established the strategy is a testament of cross-functional alignment and stakeholder involvement, which has taken the Zain brand value to new heights while also raising the company’s standing as a leading regional TechCo.

Zain Kuwait’s launch of 5G Advanced in June 2025 unlocks new horizons for Kuwait’s digital economy and technological innovation accelerating the country into a regional hub for the digital economy. Kuwait now ranks among the first countries worldwide to deploy 5G Advanced commercially, underscoring its pioneering role in adopting cutting-edge telecom technologies and enhancing its position as a forward-looking digital hub.

Digital Infrastructure: Data Centers, Subsea Cables, and Terrestrial Networks:
Zain Omantel International (ZOI) has made significant strides in strengthening regional digital infrastructure and international connectivity:
Subsea Connectivity (AAE-2):
ZOI, in collaboration with strategic partners, is participating in the AAE-2 subsea cable system, linking Asia, Africa, and Europe. This investment enhances Zain’s role in global data flows and supports growing demand from hyperscalers, enterprises, and governments for resilient, high-capacity international connectivity.
Terrestrial Digital Corridor via Iraq:
ZOI has partnered with Horizon Scope Telecom and Iraqi Telecommunications and Information Company (ITPC) to establish a strategic terrestrial telecommunications corridor connecting the Middle East to Europe through Iraq.
This corridor provides an alternative, secure, and high-capacity route, enhancing network resilience, efficiency, and geopolitical diversity of connectivity paths.
Integrated Subsea and Terrestrial Model:
With access to more than 20 international submarine cables across the region, ZOI has developed an integrated subsea-terrestrial connectivity model, positioning Zain as a critical enabler of regional and cross-border digital traffic.
Data Center and AI-Ready Infrastructure Expansion:
ZOI continues to play a central role in expanding regional data center capacity and AI-ready infrastructure, supporting hyperscalers, enterprises, and governments as demand for cloud, AI, and low-latency services accelerates across the Middle East.
Digital Finance - Scaling Fintech across Markets:
Zain has continued to scale its fintech footprint, reinforcing Digital Zain as a core growth engine:
- Multi-Market Fintech Operations: Zain today provides digital financial services across KSA, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, and Sudan, serving both B2C and SME segments.
- Broadening Service Portfolio: Offerings span payments, remittances, lending, and merchant/SME solutions, strengthening financial inclusion, increasing wallet engagement, and supporting SME digitization across operating markets.
