Zain Group publishes its 12th consecutive annual sustainability report, entitled ‘An Inclusive Transition for Future Generations’. In the report, Zain details the progress and strategic efforts undertaken across the company’s footprint in the past year as it continues to execute on its five-year, 2025 Corporate Sustainability strategy centered on four pillars, Climate Change, Operating Responsibly, Inclusion, and Generation Youth.
Through its sustainability activities in 2022, Zain continues to address the digital literacy gap, deficits, and challenges across its footprint, conducting strategic stakeholder engagement dialogues to provide the necessary drive for socio-economic and environmental development.
The 2022 Sustainability report is based on the company’s materiality assessment and was developed using the AA1000 Accountability Principles (AA1000AP) 2018; the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) standards; and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) that apply to the Telecommunications Sustainability Accounting Standard. In addition, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) is also included as Zain continues to enhance its business strategy and operations and embed efforts to tackle climate-related risks and opportunities across its operations.
An independent limited assurance was provided by Ernst & Young (Al Aiban, Al Osaimi and Partners) for the current report, details of which are included on page 142 that include the following topics: Emissions, Procurement Practices, Data Privacy, Customer Health and Safety, amongst others.
